Why GET RIGHT? There are of course many reasons that you should GET RIGHT, but a better question, is why not? It's free and it bestows on you untold treasures for eternity. I don't know anyone that doesn't wish they were a better person in some way or another. A lot of people have given up trying, but they still want to be better. Look at all the extreme makeover shows. Who wouldn't want to be transformed into a "perfect person" instantly and effortlessly. Well guess what? When you GET RIGHT, you receive an Extreme Makeover of the Soul. You'll never truly become who you want to be on your own, but with God, all things are possible. Imagine the following: Pretend you are standing on the edge of a field that extends out as far as you can see in every direction. In front of you way off in the distance, you can see a mansion that is more magnificent than you could have ever imagined. You head in it's direction to get a better look. The field is waist high in grass, weeds, and occasional thorns, and is very tough to move through. Over time you get used to the brush, and it becomes a little easier to move. All of a sudden, without any warning you fall into a shallow pit in the ground. It was covered up by surface brush and carefully hidden so you couldn't see it. It caught you completely off guard. It is higher than you can reach, and at first you aren't sure you can get out of it. You try, and try, and eventually you manage to crawl up the side of the pit up to the surface. You once again set off in the direction of the mansion, but this time you try to be a little more careful, because there may be some more pits. You get a good ways across the field without much trouble, and you start to let your guard down a little, and not much later you fall in another pit. This one is much deeper than the first, and after many, many attempts you realize you aren't going to make it out of this one. There you spend the rest of your life, unable to move any further towards your goal. This is what most people's life is like. (Romans 3:23) Some people fool themselves and spend their whole life trying to get out of that pit, only to realize in the end it just wasn't possible. (Romans 5:12) Some people give up after trying just a little bit, and never try again. Now, once a person decides to GET RIGHT, someone lowers a rope into that pit, and pulls them out. (Romans 5:8) When they get to the surface they find God's only son Jesus Christ. He continues with you on the rest of the journey across the field. Having him with you doesn't make the journey any easier, but anytime you fall in a pit, he's there to pull you out. (Isaiah 49:8-9) All you have to do is ask him to help you. (Romans 10:13) You continue your journey across the field the rest of your life, and no matter where you are in that journey when you die, he takes you to his mansion when your time has come. You will never truly become who you want to be unless you GET RIGHT. So how do you GET RIGHT? |
